Call for Volunteers
We need volunteers for both school and PTA activities.
Your volunteerism makes a difference to our children and our school.
The PTA provides funding and coordinates volunteers for a number of programs designed to help our children learn outside of their curriculum. The PTA is asking every family to please help with at least one event. Just a few hours make a big difference.
Classroom and school volunteering also is critical to the Sleepy Hollow instructional program and provides other opportunities for you to get involved.

Dashing Dolphins Running Club Practice Help
Dashing Dolphins is an after-school program for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. The program teaches fitness and health and will prepare students to run the Beech Tree Elementary School 5k Run in December. Dashing Dolphins is run by volunteer teachers with help from parents. We need lots of help to make this season a success!
Join a team of 3-5 other parent volunteers to assist the teachers during practice. You will be directed to help with tasks such as handing out snacks, taking attendance, helping students track their number of laps, and encouraging the students throughout practice. Parents can run or walk with students as well if they wish.
After School one day a week (Oct-Dec, day TBD)
Meet in cafeteria, run on school grounds (gym when raining).
My student isn’t in the program. Can I still volunteer?
Yes! Any parent can volunteer. When you volunteer, your students and siblings may attend and participate with you.
Do I have to sign up for the whole season?
No! Even if you can only attend ONCE or a handful of times, every bit helps. We have a lot of practices to cover, please be a part of our team!
Do I have to run to help out?
No! Parents can run or walk with the students OR just assist with tasks throughout practice.
Can I be a part of the 5k race even if I can’t help at practice?
Yes! We will participate in the Beech Tree ES 5k in December, date TBD. Buddy runners needed, register on your own and run with us!
SHES Library Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the library. I think it’s a great volunteering job and my favorite part is discovering new books and checking them out for my kids. If you haven’t volunteered at the library before, it’s really quite fun and easy– all you are doing is re-shelving books. The library staff will train you on your first day.
How Often Do I Need to Volunteer?
Please volunteer as much or as little as you like. Last year, I was typically at the library every other Thursday. I created this sign up sheet so you can sign up for as many days that work for you. I realize that some people will want to volunteer weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. It’s up to you!
How Long is a Shift?
It really depends on how many books there are to re-shelve but I was usually there for about an hour; some days it was longer and some shorter. If the re-shelving is taking a long time and you need to leave, the library staff is very understanding and just happy that you showed up in the first place!
Is There a Specific Time?
No, there is not a specific time. Sometimes I came in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon.
How Do I Signup?
Use this form to select the dates you would like to volunteer. You don’t have to commit to the whole year right now–I know many of you probably only know your schedule week-to-week or month-to-month–but go ahead and sign up for what you can. I’m anticipating that we will have a lot of empty dates and I’ll probably need to send out monthly reminders to sign up. I also encourage you to use the “add to calendar” feature which is always really helpful.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
